Job summary

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic,highly motivated nursewith a passion for delivering high standards of care who is ready to develop their leadership skills as a Band 6 Charge Nurse. You will be a champion of patient experience and deliver the clinical strategy of exceptional patient care in line with the Trust vision and strategy.

You will be supported by a highly motivated senior nursing team which includes a Clinical Practice Educator, Day Surgery Leads and Medical team, and you will be supported within the role with on-going training which includes thedifferent speciality competencies and have access to a wide range of learning opportunities, in house and externally, to help take your career in the right direction, this will help support you to develop the competence and confidence you need as an effective, independent healthcare professional. You'll receive a full induction programme; benefit from ward and classroom-based training and clinical skills assessments.

We welcome applications from experienced Band 5 nurses who are looking to progress their careers to the next level. Currently working within an acute setting and have recent exposure to surgical patient pathways and shift leading, you will be eager to take on and

grow your leadership and mentoring skills. Your development is our priority and this will be supported by the senior nursing team and our clinical practice educator.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will work with the Day Surgery Matron and multi-disciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining policies, standards of care and staff development, as part of the Day Surgery Team. In addition he/she will provide specialist care and/or support and deputise for the Team Leader/Clinical Coordinator in the management of the clinical area. This will involve dealing with complex situations and having to take appropriate action in emergency or unforeseen situations.
  • Following progression through the foundation gateway, the post holder will be supported to develop the skills and knowledge to progress through the second gateway when they will be expected to carry out all relevant duties without supervision, as delegated by line manager.
  • Provide specialist advice to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/clients and relatives/carers without supervision in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team
