Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced physiotherapist to take up a position as an ACP Physiotherapist in our secondary care setting. You will be part of both the Orthopaedic and Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapy Teams offering expert and innovative multidisciplinary service for patients within the Major Trauma and Specialists Elective Surgery pathways. The post holder will provide clinical expertise and autonomous patient management as an advanced clinical practitioner within the upper limb orthopaedic service.

As part of your role you will lead service development and review, ensuring the service is able to provide safe, high quality, evidence based, and holistic management of secondary care patients. You will collaborate with the other team members and clinical specialists in the development of the integrated upper limb MSK physiotherapy pathways across the trust.

The post holder is expected to hold ACP accreditation, those without accreditation but with working experience at this level will be supported to achieve this within the first 3 years of post.

Main duties of the job

You will provide clinical expertise and autonomous patient management as an advanced clinical practitioner within the upper limb orthopaedic service. You will be working as part of the Orthopaedic and MSK Physiotherapy teams providing leadership, management and clinical expertise, ensuring the provision of high quality of care to patients with upper limb pathology. Local and national musculoskeletal/orthopaedics activities will form part of your role as well as research and teaching. You will be joining a large and diverse MSK Physiotherapy Team which includes a healthy mix of staff experience including; physiotherapy assistants and technicians, rotational band 5, 6 and 7 physiotherapists and a team of clinical specialists, and orthopaedic and pain advanced clinical physiotherapy practitioners. We are fortunate to have the lead clinical academic for therapies nested within the department.

  • Health & Care Professions Council registration.
  • Evidence of experience /post graduate training and education to Masters level or equivalent and CPD relevant to speciality area.
  • Evidence of structured training on appraisal and supervisory skills

Desirable

  • Masters or PhD degree in relevant subject
  • Membership of relevant professional groups relevant Specialist interest group

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive experience post qualification with evidenced experience at a senior level within relevant speciality
  • Experience of supervising qualified therapy staff and students
  • Experience of incident investigation and implementation of change of practice as a result
  • Evaluation of clinical practice including participation in research/audit/service evaluation and quality improvement projects.

Desirable

  • Experience at band 8a level
  • Clinical leadership of other disciplines
