Job summary

There has never been a more exciting time to join Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHT) and we are looking to appoint to a newly created position within the Financial Services division of the Finance team.ICHT is one of the largest NHS Trusts in the country - with a turnover of £1.6bn and a pool of 14,500 talented colleagues, we provide acute and specialist care to over a million patients each year in North West London (NWL) and beyond. We are looking for a talented and adaptable finance professional to join the team at a pivotal time.

The Head of Financial Systems & Compliance is a new role in the newly-created Financial Systems Environment team. The team brings together core financial systems, transactional services, financial governance and financial administration that forms the overall system environment experienced by customers in finance and the wider organization.

Main duties of the job

The role has two key areas of responsibility:

  • Oversight of the core financial system and financial control environment
  • Line management of the Financial Compliance team

The role will be the main in-house finance systems lead and will be responsible both for maintenance of the system control environment and also play a key role in implementing change and improvement.

The Trust is expecting to join with partners in the North West London sector to develop a common finance system platform, and this role will play a significant part in that project - this is a fantastic opportunity to be really embedded in major change projects.

The Financial Compliance team are presently the in-house Accounts Payable support function, complementing the outsourced AP service. The team has an ambitious plan to change the way it works and enhance the AP experience across the organization. This role will provide leadership to that team based on an approach that is data-driven but also highly focused on excellent service and business partnering.

The successful candidate will have an accounting background, but have an aptitude for working with systems and colleagues from ICT and system support partners. They will be ambitious, curious and adaptable. They will be able to deliver reliable services day-in, day-out but also be able to put their services right at the heart of a wider improvement journey. In doing this, they will be a good manager who can build their team and help their colleagues grow.
