Job summary

A band 7 Treatment Team Leader opportunity has arisen for an experienced therapeutic radiographer who is ready to move into a senior leadership role. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic individual who will fit in quickly with the treatment team.

This opening is an exciting time to join our team; we have now established our SABR treatment delivery programme and are using SGRT on our newest linac. We also treat intra-cranial SRS as well as TBI & TLNI. You will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge across treatment and pre-treatment pathways and you will be expected to participate in the emergency on-call rota.

We actively support professional development and encourage radiographer led research and QI projects. We support leadership development with excellent leadership development programmes delivered by the Trust. We support flexible working arrangements and all applicants would be expected to support the working hours of the service and work across sites.

Operating mainly from our Charing Cross site, our equipment portfolio includes five True Beam Linacs (one based at Hammersmith Hospital), Philips Brilliance CT scanner and Xstrahl unit; our Elekta Flexitron Brachytherapy unit is based at Hammersmith Hospital in a dedicated brachytherapy suite. We are replacing our exsiting CT scanner in early 2024. Two of our newest True Beam Linacs have the Exac Trac system.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide high quality, effective individualised treatment and care to all patients
  • To carry out all practical aspects involved in preparation and delivery of radiotherapy treatments
  • To lead & support teams in allocated treatment areas on a rotational basis
  • To support with the coordination, implementation, and continuous development of a quality improvement culture within the Radiotherapy service.
  • To support with the coordination, implementation, and continuous development of a culture of safe, high quality care in the Radiotherapy service, through effective and robust integrated governance processes and procedures, including statutory and regulatory compliance

  • DCR(T) or BSC in Therapy Radiography and registered with HCPC
  • Evidence of personal development and attendance at specialist courses and conferences

Desirable

  • Post-graduate study in related specialist subjects

Experience

Essential

  • Experience and good understanding of electronic patient management systems, and treatment and image verification systems including downloading data, entering data and checking data
  • Demonstrable experience working in a senior clinical role supervising radiotherapy teams
  • Experience in radiotherapy imaging techniques and able to analyse images and formulate action plans

Desirable

  • Experience in leading project work
  • Experience in specialist radiotherapy roles
