Job summary
Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust welcomes applicants to apply for the role of Pathway Coordinator within the ENT Department.
This role will be focused on providing secretarial administration for a set group of consultants with the department, assisting in the coordination of the ENT clinics and management of patient's pathways within the service. The post holder will be required to communicate with patients on a daily basis, and assist in responding to queries and managing appointments. The post holder will play an important role in helping the department to meet national targets and in assisting both the clinical and wider administrative team.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills who and has the ability to work well as part of a large multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate would have experience working with members of the public as part of a large organization. They will need to have excellent people skills and be able to work flexibly in a busy, fast-paced environment. The post will be of interest to those who enjoy working with the public and wish to pursue a career in hospital administration.
The ENT department is the regional head and neck cancer centre, the regional thyroid cancer centre, the supra-regional skull base surgery centre and the national centre for adult airway reconstruction and is the largest in Europe. As a result, patients are referred from all over the UK and other countries worldwide.
Main duties of the job
The Pathway Co-ordinator will be primarily responsible for providing secretarial assistance to the department, helping to co-ordinate the ENT clinics to ensure patients are seen in line with clinical urgency and national access targets, and to communicate effectively with patients regarding appointments and treatment-related matters. The post holder will be expected to provide a high standard of administrative support by working closely with a wide range of clinical and managerial staff. Moreover, they will be expected to organise and prioritise their own workload and to assist colleagues ensuring continuity of service at all times.
