Job summary
As the Deputy COO, you will support the Chief Operating Officer in coordinating trust-wide delivery of all clinical and operational services, working alongside the Divisional leadership teams to ensure that improvement plans are delivered to time and to budget. You will oversee the Trust's performance framework, co-ordinating teams as needed to achieve required standards. This includes working in collaboration with the business intelligence team to ensure that internal and external reporting systems are synchronised and that all performance data is accurate and appropriately signed off.
As a Hospital Director, you will provide managerial leadership to the Hammersmith and Queen Charlotte's & Chelsea hospital sites, motivating and supporting staff to deliver the objectives of the Trust and the best possible patient experience and care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
This is an exceptional job, and I am looking for an exceptional individual to fulfil it. It will need a person with significant operational, financial and performance management experience, who is able to lead in a large organisation and manage competing demands in order to help us deliver on important milestones today whilst preparing for the years ahead. I am also looking for someone who has excellent analytical skills, creativity and insight, and the necessary communication, leadership and team working qualities to support all our services to be the best they can be.
Main duties of the job
You will provide highly visible and inspiring leadership for staff throughout the Trust, championing a professional and open culture which empowers staff to deliver a consistently high quality of care with compassion, acting as a role model for the behaviours and high professional standards expected, and at all times live and showcase the Trust's values: Aspirational, Collaborative, Kind, Expert.
You will oversee the Hammersmith and Queen Charlotte's & Chelsea hospitals, providing the leadership that will help to develop further the work on those sites and the quality of care that patients receive. Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with external partners and stakeholders, and raising the profile and reputation of the Trust will maximise opportunities to enhance the provision of care.
You will provide professional support to the Divisional and Directorate management teams, ensuring clear communication and that teams are on course to achieve the Trust's clinical and academic vision and deliver high quality patient services. You will also be accountable for the delivery of the Performance Support Team.
You will work alongside the rest of the senior leadership management team in ensuring the Trust makes an effective contribution to the development of health care plans within the Acute Provider Collaborative and the wider local health economy.
