We are looking for a Specialist Speech & Language Therapist to join our Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapy Service is based at the Charing Cross Hospital site. The adult acute team is responsible for the delivery of a high quality, evidence-based service to patients across a range of clinical specialisms including acute admissions, neurosciences, elderly care, respiratory, oncology and critical care.
As a valued member of the speech and language therapy and multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to multidisciplinary working, further developing your clinical skills and actively participating in service development and training others. Staff are actively encouraged and supported to participate in CPD activities, audit and research.
We hold weekly videofluoroscopy clinics and provide a FEES service across all hospital sites. You will be supported in the development of your skills in these areas in line with your learning needs.
This recruitment may be used for other substantive and temporary band 6 specialist speech and language therapy opportunities arising within the Trust in the coming months.
Main duties of the job
To provide a specialist SLT service to adult inpatients with disorders of communication and/or swallowing as part of the Adult Acute SLT team based at the Charing Cross Hospital (CXH) site. This service is provided to patients within the specialisms of medicine for the elderly, respiratory medicine, neurosciences, oncology, surgery, and critical care. The post-holder will receive regular support and supervision from a Band 7 on site. They will continue to gain wider clinical experience and expertise through clinical support and be able to make independent clinical decisions concerning caseload management, as well as participating in service, team and MDT developments. We hold weekly videofluoroscopy clinics and provide a FEES service, therefore support will be provided for the development of the post-holder's skills in line with their learning needs and service priorities. The department supports student placements, and delivers both rolling programmes and bespoke training and education to a range of professionals, which the post-holder will contribute to.
