Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Pharmacy Technician to join our excellent Pharmacy Team on the Hammersmith hospital site, which is part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
You will manage the Pharmacy Distribution and Stores Team, providing a high quality, stock management service to the wards and clinics on the Hammersmith site.
You will need good computer skills, be able to work independently as well as part of a team, and so excellent communication skills are essential. You must have a NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent recognised Pharmacy Technician qualification be a registered Pharmacy Technician with theGPhC and have mandatory professional CPD as defined by the GPhC.
Main duties of the job
Our site dispensaries are the hub of the site teams. You will be working with a fantastic team of pharmacy technicians and assistants and an external team of medicines management pharmacists, technicians and assistants to deliver a quality patient focused service for our wards and departments.
To assist in the training of pharmacists, technicians and pharmacy assistants in the technical aspects of the dispensing service.
Your duties will include but not be limited to the following:
- To ensure efficient day-to-day running of the dispensary in conjunction with the chief or lead pharmacy technician.
- To manage all aspects of inpatient, discharge and TTA dispensing, including organising and prioritising workload and allocating duties within the team.
- To work closely with the medicines management team to assist in the timely discharge of patients
To act as an Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT)
- To line manage dispensary pharmacy assistants and/or band 4 rotational technicians.
- To train all new staff in the various dispensary tasks i.e. labelling, dispensing, robots, prescription tracker etc.
- To support the chief technician with the management of stock within the dispensary and stores
