Job summary

The Catering Assistant plays a vital role in the delivery of nutrition to patients, staff and visitors.

You will be asked to assist with the efficient operation and production of catering services provided to patients.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will assist in providing a comprehensive catering service to Patients, Staff and Visitors in line with Hygiene Legislation, Environmental Health requirements and Departmental Standards
  • Operational Procedures in all areas of the Catering Department
  • Provide a food service that is safe, and customer focused.

Job responsibilities

  • To assist in the preparation of patient food in a hygienic manner following all instructions given
  • Stock Rotation of food recording any wastage

  • Keeping all areas clean and tidy

  • Cleaning of kitchen/pantry/restaurant equipment, crockery, utensils and structure

  • Assist with stock takes, checking in deliveries and putting away stock

  • Delivering of catering supplies to wards, departments and call orders

  • Filling in of paperwork e.g. temperature records, cleaning rota

  • Assist the manager and supervisor to achieve health and safety requirements

  • Reporting of faulty equipment or near misses

  • Ad-hoc duties as and when required
