Job summary
We are pleased to offer a unique opportunity to join the Macmillan Colorectal CNS Team at Imperial College Healthcare.
We are a well established, expert and effective team, who work dynamically within the LGI MDT. We provide specialist care and management to patients and their families throughout their diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer.
The CNS Team manage nurse-led clinics, ensuring excellent co ordination and management of the patient cancer care pathway. We are looking for keen nurses to come and join our established team. You will be responsible for the care and support of people with colorectal & anal cancer, including patients with metastatic colorectal cancer. Working with the whole CNS Team, your role in ensuring that the patients' experience reflects what is important to the patients. You will also be pivotal in shaping and promoting the nursing vision and direction of the Colorectal CNS Team.
Our service covers Oncology & Surgical clinics across the Trust including St Mary's, Charing Cross & Hammersmith Hospitals.
Main duties of the job
- Provide specialist nursing advice, care and support to patients with colorectal cancer and facilitate high quality, individualized care to patients/clients and relatives/carers, both inpatients and outpatients in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team and in line with local and national targets.
- At all times ensure that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery. Where appropriate acting as a 'key worker'.
- Work to improve the patient experience throughout the patient journey.
- Deputise for their line manager in designated tasks relevant to the development of role/clinical specialty.
- Act as professional role model, providing direct and indirect clinical care, teaching and research.
- To work with senior members of the team and contribute to the development of the clinical nurse specialist role in accordance with local and national policy and ensure the needs of patients and their families are central to service improvement initiatives.
