Background to the Post
A fixed term contract post is available for a Senior Fellow (ST5+/Post CCT) in Interventional Neuroradiology in the Department of Radiology at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
The applicant should possess FRCR or equivalent and have undergone formal subspecialty Neuroradiology training.
Start date to be within the next three months (by December 2023) and to be confirmed with the successful applicant.
This post is for a fixed term duration of 12 months.
The Fellow will focus on all aspects of neurointervention and may have allocated research time. In addition to the clinical exposure to MDTs and diagnostic neuroradiology, there will be opportunity to develop academic and research skills in a multidisciplinary environment.
The post timetable is made expecting the candidate will be able to work independently with minimal supervision after an initial supervision period. The Fellow will be expected to contribute to the delivery of the Acute Thrombectomy service.

Main duties of the job
Charing Cross Hospital is one of three major interventional neuroradiology centres in London delivering a 24/7 thrombectomy service with a large catchment area. The services provides a comprehensive diagnostic and neurointervention provision for all haemorrhaghic and ischaemic neurovascular pathologies
The fellowship will offer the successful candidate an opportunity to be trained in the full repertoire of neurointerventional procedures. The fellowship will provide a unique opportunity to work within our 24/7 mechanical thrombectomy service and gain valuable experience to support the future expansion of stroke services at other institutions. They will participate in and support the full range of departmental activities.
Duties and responsibilities
(a) The purpose of this post is to provide a broad training in interventional neuroradiology. The fellow will be expected to:
- i) work with the consultant and specialist registrars (SpRs) to fulfil the clinical obligations of the department,
- ii) participate in research projects, iii) Quality improvement and audit activity,
- iv) participate in formal and informal teaching to SpRs, medical students and ancillary medical personnel.
(b) Clinical Commitment: The fellow will initially be under the direct supervision of a consultant but will have a more autonomous role as he/she gains experience.
