Job summary

The Directorate of Critical Care at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust are excited to be recruiting into 8a Matron position at the Hammersmith hospital site. The role will support the leadership of our vast nursing workforce in Intensive Care and support the running of 35 critical care beds on the Hammersmith site. Specialities include cardiothoracic, cardiology, haematology and renal, with the planned the addition of ECMO for 2024.

The ideal candidates will be enthusiastic, motivated, and optimistic individuals who thrive on working as part of a team. You should be a clinical expert in the specialty of Critical Care, with previous experience of nursing leadership.

You should be passionate about advancing the field of Critical Care nursing and be able to inspire others to reach their maximum potential, identifying constructive solutions to problems and focusing on moving forwards.

You should be able to demonstrate innovation in practice, experience of contributing to quality improvement, have excellent communication and negotiation skills and can positively influence others.

Main duties of the job

To oversee the delivery of high quality, safe and effective care focused on improving outcomes and experiences for patients, families and carers. As a key member of a multi professional team, ensure appropriate referral and discussion with other members of the team to optimise patient care. Ensure patients are assessed, have care plans that are implemented and evaluated in accordance with Trust's evidence basedprocedural documents. To have local open and transparent communication channels that support the ward team to do the right thing for people we care for, to be bold when they have good ideas and to speak up when things go wrong. Act as a clinical expert within sphere of work. Have continuous responsibility for the ward area, providing visible professional leadership and line management for ateam of nursing and support staff. Ensure staffing is in line with Trust policy. Manage budgets and resources efficiently and effectively. Be responsible for the safety and cleanliness of the clinical environment. Champion a culture of learning and quality improvement in the clinical area.
