Job summary

We are looking for a highly organised and confident Assistant Research Practitioner with strong motivation to work within the field of research. Ideally, you will have some experience working in the NHS or in a clinical research environment, face-to-face interactions with patients, handling clinical records and performing data entry using electronic data capture systems.

You will support the co-ordination and administration of the day-to-day activity of the research delivery team. The main focus of the role will be in supporting the delivery team in the administrative tasks relating to clinical research, for example site file maintenance, data management, invoicing, organising regular meetings, monthly newsletter distribution, expressions of interest, maintenance of spread sheets and study trackers.

You should be excellent in interpersonal and communication skills, with an aptitude for paper work, high attention to detail and thrive in a team environment. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office is ideal for this role.

This role offers the opportunity to further develop excellent interpersonal communication, organisation, time management and documentation skills and work with more experienced researchers. This is an exciting opportunity to develop and expand your skills and knowledge in a clinical research administrative setting.

The role will be offered for one year in the first instance with a possibility to become permanent.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 4 Assistant Research Practitioner you will assist and support the Clinical Research Nurses / Clinical Research Practitioners in ensuring effective research delivery of cardiovascular research studies in PRRU and across the Trust. You will support the co-ordination and administration of the day-to-day activity of the research delivery team. You will be expected to perform administrative tasks relating to clinical research, for example, site file maintenance, data management, maintenance of spreadsheets, local databases and study financial trackers. You will be required to interact and engage with participants throughout the study period, answer any questions, liaise with multidisciplinary teams and various stakeholders to facilitate pre-screening, screening and scheduling of follow-up visits for participants in our study portfolio.

You will be an accountable professional and have the ability to work without direct supervision; within the parameters of practice by undertaking a range of duties appropriate to the level of responsibility and knowledge and skills acquired.
