Our 'Outstanding' rated Maternity Unit at St Mary's is looking for an Inpatient Matron with a background in quality improvement and compassionate leadership to join their growing team
Part of your role as an Inpatient Matron , you will :
Be a professional role model, who will clinically lead, manage and be responsible for the management and midwifery aspects of the inpatient Services at St. Mary's Hospital.
Demonstrate clinical leadership in the management of highly complex and social problems
Identify and facilitate strategies for the service improvement and potential development initiatives.
To facilitate effective communication with clients and all staff within the multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
Work collaboratively with the Head of Midwifery, Inpatient matron and ward managers to take professional and operational responsibility for all midwifery staff at SMH
To oversee midwifery care provision in the inpatient areas , ensuring that there are systems in place that mean the provision of care takes place in a suitable and safe environment for the physical and psychological well-being of staff, women / birthing people and their families.
To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified as appropriate to knowledge and training to meet the service needs and contribute to on call or cross site cover as required.
Communicate effectively at all times and maintain a harmonious working environment.
Demonstrate in-depth knowledge by being visible, accessible and using clinical skills within the workplace as appropriate.
Supervise the annual appraisal of staff within the areas and undertake individual performance review and setting of objectives for the development of Senior Midwives and Specialist Midwives.
Supervise the response to complaints, clinical incidents and respond where appropriate ensuring robust systems are developed and implemented to inform and improve practice.
Undertake responsibility for tasks delegated by the Head of Midwife or Lead Midwife.
