Job summary

Do you have experience of working to a senior level in IPC nursing?

ICHNT are seeking an exceptional nurse who is a dynamic, confident, and driven to become their Head of IPC Nursing.

This exciting opportunity offers the successful candidate a chance to lead a large IPC nursing service, across multiple site locations.

You must be able to influence senior colleagues, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work on your own. You will be articulate, and work to demanding timelines and adeptly manage clinical teams. You will be comfortably presenting in senior forums and be able to challenge at a senior level.

You will work with, and be supported by, a senior leadership team including the Deputy Director of IPC, the Infection Control Doctor, the clinical lead for Antimicrobial Stewardship and a senior IPC Operational Manager.

Main duties of the job

Have responsibility for the management and strategic direction of the IPC nursing team.

Provide a proactive approach to prevention, surveillance, investigation, and control of infection. This includes reviewing, implementation, and education of evidence-based infection control practices.

Take responsibility for embedding evidence-based practice and implement and add to the body of knowledge that supports nursing practice within IPC.

Lead and innovate practice in IPC, both within the Trust and through local networks.

Provide clinical leadership in the development of appropriate strategies to engage with key stakeholders on the prevention of HCAI and to advise and support the Trust to achieve this.

Take responsibility for autonomous expert clinical decision making and directing the specialist advice offered in support of the IPC agenda for incidents/outbreaks of infections.

Drive reform and support organisational change and uptake of initiatives that support excellence in IPC and HCAI reduction, including supporting improvement programmes across the healthcare setting.

Identify examples of national and international best practice and to ensure that the Trust benefits from relevant innovations in healthcare.

Provide senior leadership and oversight in the delivery of the Vascular Access Service as well as steering the IPC education strategy across the organisation, in collaboration with the Clinical Practice Educator.
