Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, enthusiastic and pro-active Band 7 Pharmacist to join our highly respected team in delivering a clinical pharmacy service to the Acute Medical Units (AMU), Acute Assessment Units (AAU), Emergency Departments (ED), Acute Respiratory Unit (ARU) and Elderly Medicine wards at Charing Cross and St Mary's hospitals. You will be part of one the largest teams in the Pharmacy Department, already comprising of highly motivated, extremely friendly and aspirational individuals.

You will operate as a corner stone of the ward, providing support to the medical, nursing and pharmacy staff. Duties are not limited to the ward environment and the successful candidate will also partake in teaching, audits and service improvement projects regularly working alongside various MDT staff.

The post holder will require good problem-solving, forward thinking and communication skills as well as be an excellent team player. We require hard work and commitment but in return, you will be provided with a supportive team structure and abundant opportunity to develop your skills, knowledge and experience.

Main duties of the job

To support the Lead Pharmacist in the day-to-day management and development of the Acute Medicine service.

To provide a high quality, patient focused, acute medicine service to in-patients and discharge patients on relevant wards.

To provide an extended hours clinical pharmacy service to AMU/AAU on relevant wards including weekends according to rota.

To review the medication of all patients admitted as an emergency particularly focusing on elderly and vulnerable patients

  • Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
  • Member of the GPhC
  • FS1 of the Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice (UCL) or other certificate equivalent

Desirable

  • FS2 of the Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice (UCL) or other equivalent certificate
  • Independent Prescriber

Experience

  • This must include a solid grounding in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice (medicines information, aseptic services, ward services and dispensing
