Job summary

A unique opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated medical Photographer with management and IT experience, who is looking to expand and develop their skills to the next level.

We are looking for a dynamic and organized individual, with excellent communication skills, proven leadership and the ability to motivate staff, to join our team at the Western Eye Hospital. The job is varied, demanding and requires stamina, drive and determination.

The Western Eye Hospital forms part of the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, an Academic Health Sciences Centre which is one of the capital's most attractive and vibrant Healthcare providers. The Western Eye provides a comprehensive range of specialist ophthalmic facilities across sites and community/hubs services and is equipped with the most advanced diagnostic and technical equipment currently available.

The Western Eye Hospital is developing robust quality and governance practices. The successful candidate will oversee the imaging team and ICT services. Please refer to JD and job aims specification of the role.

The role will include developing the staff within ophthalmic services and IT services

Main duties of the job

  • Supports Lead Photographer in order to lead the team of clinical photographers and imaging team
  • Illustration staff, influencing skills with the ability to enthuse, motivate and involve individuals and teams, and have them understand the Trust's and your performance expectations.
  • Supports digital transformation in Ophthalmology
  • Work with a commitment to improve patient services through an ability to sustain a clear performance focus on achieving demanding goals.
  • Assess and advise on ophthalmic practice related to Imaging IT Systems to ensure high quality diagnostic images are available for the treatment and management of patients.
  • Participate in the identification and evaluation of new diagnostic modalities or Imaging IT equipment or as part of the selection and procurement process.

Essential

  • Masters in Medical illustration qualification with Ophthalmic Photographer experience of at least 5 years' experience
  • Academy for HealthCare Science registration
  • Diploma/degree or IT-related field, or demonstrably work to an equivalent level
  • Portfolio demonstrating ongoing CPD

Desirable

  • Project Management Qualification
  • Has experience using Cerner/medisoft/medisight

Skills/Abilities

Essential

  • Well-developed analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to teach and mentor students, more junior staff and new members of staff.
  • Ability to manipulate statistical data using Microsoft Excel
  • Understanding of data protection act and issues relating to clinical data
  • Change management experience and skills

  • Proven experience in a line management role within medical illustration eg. Section team leader/senior photographer
