Job summary

Due to yet another promotion in our Employee Relations team, an exciting opportunity has arisen to take a leading role in resolving issues around conflict and behaviour across our five leading London hospitals.

At any point in our careers, any of us can find ourselves in conflict with our managers or colleagues. Conflict doesn't have to be bad - healthy, respectful debate and diversity of thought and opinion helps us to innovate, and to be expert and aspirational. Sometimes, though, we may need more help to resolve conflict, such as if you have serious concerns about the way you are being treated, or the conflict isn't going away and is starting to affect your working relationships and/ or wellbeing.

The resolution specialist is there to provide conflict coaching, to signpost the various informal and formal resolution routes available and to manage the traffic of complex and serious investigations casework in the central investigations team. The resolution specialist is a subject matter expert, providing peer support and advice to other HR colleagues in dealing with issues around culture, working relationships and behaviour.

Main duties of the job

o Coach, influence and persuade individuals who contact the Resolution Unit to resolve issues informally, wherever possible.o Provide first-line conflict coaching to individuals, helping to build confidence in initiating and having the early resolution conversation, signposting other interventions where appropriate.o Provide conflict coaching to managers to support them in intervening where team members are in conflict, signposting other interventions where appropriateo Peer support and advice to divisional HR colleagues in dealing with conflict-related issues.o Devise and maintain (with admin support) systems to log resolution referrals and the outcomes of these, reporting these as requested.o Liaise with managers and divisional HR colleagues to appropriately triage allegations of misconduct.o Allocate investigations casework to the team of investigators, taking into account workloads and priorities.o Monitor that accurate, up-to-date central records are kept of investigation caseloads, and that investigators update these as cases progress.o Maintain the list of trained resolution facilitators and sourcing these where a facilitated conversation is requested or mandated.o Act as the liaison point with CONTACT's mediation service, ensuring - with admin support - that mediation referrals are accurately logged, progress of mediation casework is monitored and evaluation is carried out post-mediation.
