Job summary
The post is two fold.
Firstly it will involve a research role based at Imperial College London hosted via a clinical team at the NHS Trust. It will provide a wide range of experience in research techniques with the successful post holder working towards a higher degree.
Secondly the post involves provision of Resident Doctor cover at The Wellington Hospital, managed by HCA. The commitment at TWH will be 30 hours per week, resident over weekdays and weekends.
Applicants must have previous clinical experience in the UK at registrar level, have completed Core Training, possess a higher medical qualification such as MRCS, MRCOG or MRCP and be fully registered with the General Medical Council. All applicants need to hold a national training number (NTN). The post will commence in August / September 2023. These posts are not formally approved training posts, but the post holder will have Consultant-led education and supervision and will be supported in their professional development. Main duties of the job
The research work will take place under the supervision of a clinician/academic based at both Imperial College NHS Trust and Imperial College London. The research work will form part of the post-holders work towards a higher degree (MD or PhD), and the applicant should have already identified the supervisor prior to submitting the on-line application.
The Resident Doctor role will provide clinical work for the cardiac, surgical or medical wards at The Wellington Hospital. The work entails clerking of emergency admissions, reviewing ward patients daily and responding to requests from nurses and others to see unwell patients. The Resident Doctors will work in shifts of up to 24 hours per day, up to 120 hours per month.
