Job summary
Applications are invited for a full time Specialty Doctor (10 Programmed Activities) fixed term (1 year) post in Sexual Health/HIV based at the Jefferiss Wing, St Mary's Hospital, Paddington. You will join a multidisciplinary team of Consultants, Specialty doctor and associate specialists, Specialist trainees, GP trainees, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Nurses and Pharmacists in the Sexual Health and HIV department. The post holder will be expected to participate predominantly in Sexual Health outpatient services and will have the training and experience necessary to provide a full range of integrated sexual health and reproductive care services. An ability to support elements of the HIV outpatient service is desirable. This is a 10PA vacancy with a weekday evening clinic, but no on-call or weekend commitments at the present time.
The post holder will be encouraged to develop a relevant specialist interest under the direction of the Heads of Specialty for Sexual Health and HIV according to the needs of the service. They will contribute to the leadership of the outpatient clinical team, education and training of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff and other healthcare professionals and to the development and support of clinical research. They will participate in clinical governance and service development activities and will work closely with the appropriate clinical management teams.
Main duties of the job
The vacancy consists of 10Pas for a 1 year fixed term. The post holder will undertake mainly Sexual Health outpatient duties including Core Sexual Health and LARC clinics (IUT) and an evening Sexual Health clinic on a weekday. There will be no on-call or weekend commitments at the present time. The post holder will at times be the designated supervising senior on the clinic floor and will support and clinically supervise junior clinical staff members and manage patient flow across the Sexual Health clinic.
The post holder will also play a role in clinical leadership, education and training of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff (including a key role in induction) and other healthcare professionals. They will participate in service development, clinical governance and development and support of clinical research.
