Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Clinical Research Network (CRN), North West London (NWL) as a Research Facilitator. The Network has been established to improve research collaboration between researchers and NHS partners and the Research Facilitators are required to promote this collaboration in current and planned projects.

NIHR: CRN North West London covers eight boroughs in London: Brent, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing, Hounslow, West London and Central London. We work with everyone who is involved in the set-up and delivery of clinical research projects - researchers, primary care staff at GP practices, pharmacies, GDPs, multi-disciplinary teams and research and development staff based in NHS trusts.

We support studies that are based within a number of different specialties including primary care, dermatology, musculoskeletal, public health, and oral and dental services.

We support randomised controlled trials, service evaluations, qualitative studies, epidemiological research, genetic research and e-science studies. These can be multi-centre and multi-site projects as well as small single-site pilot studies.

We support both publicly-funded research studies and projects that are sponsored by industry.

Main duties of the job

The Research Facilitator post will provide a key role in research management support to NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) Portfolio studies undertaken in North West London. The post holder will be responsible for coordinating the setup of a portfolio of research projects running in any Primary, Community and Social Care settings in North West London. They will support research studies at various stages, from expressions of interest and feasibility, all the way to regulatory submissions, operational setup and delivery. The post holder will also provide advice on regulatory and governance as part of the national Regulatory and Governance Advice Service, in all aspect of NIHR portfolio research, including setup, feasibility, approval, on-going management and closedown. They will be responsible for project managing study setup, engaging with sponsors, clinicians, support departments and managers to ensure that research projects are approved and initiated in a timely manner. The post holder will use a number of data management tools to ensure that information on the CRN research portfolio is accurate and up-to-date. The post holder will line manage a Speciality Group Facilitator who supports local Clinical Research and Specialty Leads and the Operational Management Team (OMT) in the delivery of national and local objectives.
