Job summary
We are seeking a full-time, locum, paediatric surgery consultant with special interest in paediatric urology to join the dynamic West London Children's Healthcare Paediatric Surgical team with the post based across Chelsea & Westminster.
This post is for a general paediatric surgeon who has sub-specialty interest in paediatric urology. The successful applicant will join our team in providing excellent care to children and families across North West London.
Candidates are expected to be trained and qualified in paediatric & neonatal surgery, with sub-specialty experience in paediatric urology being of interest. We are a leading centre in paediatric minimally invasive surgery, including robotic-assisted surgery, and would like the applicants to be trained or willing to train in robotic surgery.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will be expected to deliver 10 programmed activities, on average, per week. They are expected to deliver full week of acute emergency day-time attending (12 weeks per year split between the Chelsea & Westminster and the St Mary's sites) and participate in a full out-of-hours on-call commitments at one of these two sites.

WLCH runs services from Chelsea & Westminster Hospital; Hammersmith Hospital; St Mary's Hospital and West Middlesex Hospital. In addition, two child development services operate from the Cheyne Centre and Woodfield Road.

Education and qualification
Essential
- MBBS or equivalent
- FRCS paediatric surgery or equivalent
- Full GMC registration with license to practice
Desirable
- On GMC Specialist Register
- Completion or evidence of working towards a higher academic degree (MD/PhD)
- Post CCT fellowship in paediatric surgery
Relevant experience in specialty
Essential
- Substantial clinical experience in paediatric & neonatal surgery
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
- Experience in managing, and ability to offer clinical opinion on common paediatric and neonatal surgical emergencies
