Job summary

The Paediatric Quality and Safety Nurse supports the multidisciplinary team in ensuring high standards of patient safety and quality care across paediatric services within West London Children's Healthcare.

The role focuses on risk management, incident investigation, and facilitating learning from incidents to improve patient outcomes. It provides professional leadership, education, audit, and research support while promoting a compassionate, no-blame culture. The post spans both Chelsea and West Middlesex sites and involves close collaboration with teams across West London Children's Healthcare to ensure compliance with patient safety frameworks, including the PSIRF framework.

Main duties of the job

  • Support patient safety and risk management across paediatric services.

  • Facilitate adherence to the PSIRF framework and provide expertise in producing high-quality safety reports.

  • Support families and staff involved in patient safety incidents, promoting compassionate engagement.

  • Lead teaching, audit, and training initiatives to enhance staff understanding of patient safety and quality improvement.

  • Monitor compliance with Trust policies and external accreditation requirements (e.g., CQC).

  • Participate in risk management strategy, improvement projects, and governance meetings.

  • Deputise for the Lead Nurse for Risk and Governance when required.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and risk strategies.
