Staff Nurse Band 5

56 Dean Street is the UK's busiest Sexual Health and HIV Service based in Soho, in the Heart of London's West End.

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and empathetic Band 5 Staff Nurses to join our large busy team who have a passion for the speciality, our patients and for the LGBT community we look after who make up 70% of our patient co-hort. We are actively involved in our in-reach and outreach services aimed at the Trans/Non-Binary community, Sex Workers, Homeless populations and look after over 20,000 MSM who take PrEP.We are especially interested in Nurses who currently work in GUM or coming from an acute background and who have a passion for delivering patient focused care with drive and empathy.

A structured training pathway is established to provide Nurses with the skills and support to work within this demanding but very rewarding service.

This Staff Nurse post includes seeing asymptomatic, symptomatic patients, and providing treatments. We would expect the Band 5 Staff Nurse to also take on in house training as needed and be motivated to advance their skill set while being a team player to all members of the Multi-disciplinary Team.

Main duties of the job

  • To maintain and deliver a high standard of nursing care, demonstrating a professional and ethical responsibility.
  • To build on clinical experience, leadership and teaching skills through nursing practice.
  • To demonstrate a commitment to the mentorship of pre and post registration learners.
  • To be involved in the development and implementation of outreach work and other service developments.
  • To act as a coordinator of the clinic in the absence of a senior member of the nursing team.
