Diabetes Midwife

Job summary

This post has been established to support the seamless and effective running of the diabetes in pregnancy service.

The midwife will work with the multidisciplinary diabetes in pregnancy team in both face to face and virtual settings, whilst harnessing technology to support women and their families diagnosed with gestational diabetes.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to utilise the GDm-Health app and on-board eligible women in how to use it. The midwife will follow up the women according to local and national diabetes guidance and support women to engage with appropriate services, make informed choices and prepare for parenthood.

The post holder's clinical responsibility will be in supporting the diabetes antenatal clinic, the virtual diabetic clinic and the GDm-Health app dashboard. He/she will be responsible for the auditing of the service and maintaining and updating the database.

The post holder will be expected to support any research projects associated with diabetes in pregnancy.

The midwife will work in partnership with the lead midwife for the service, supporting women to achieve positive pregnancy outcomes that are personalised, safe and in line with evidence.
