Chelsea and Westminster Hospital: Chelsea Centre for Gender Surgery
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital has been commissioned by NHS England to provide gender-affirming surgical treatment for individuals experiencing gender dysphoria. As part of this commitment, the hospital established the Chelsea Centre for Gender Surgery (CCGS), a leading facility delivering high-quality, evidence-based care for transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse individuals.
CCGS offers a full range of gender-affirming procedures, including lower masculinising surgery, lower feminising surgery, and masculinising chest surgery. The service is founded on principles of innovation, equity, and person-centred care, ensuring that patients receive equal access to surgical services regardless of gender identity. Reasonable adjustments are made to accommodate individual needs and circumstances.
Main duties of the job
As a Consultant Urologist with a specialist interest in Gender Affirmation Surgery (GAS), the post-holder will have demonstrated experience in genitourinary surgery, as well as operate independently in masculinising lower surgery and related surgeries, as well as experience in feminising lower surgery.
The role will require close working with other colleagues in the Trust as well as allied organisations as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to quality improvement, research and management of the service. It is anticipated that the post-holder will engage in specific management tasks and contribute to service meetings as required.

Attendance at MDT meetings
Participation in audit, research and governance activities of the department
Supervision of academic research projects
Ensure compliance with national commissioning standards and waiting time targets
Support subspecialisation in the department by appropriate cross referral to colleagues
Provide consultant care at an early stage to patients presenting to secondary care with presumed urological complications of gender surgery
Contribute to the routine care of GAS inpatients, rotating this responsibility with colleagues
To promote early and safe discharge of patients
Strong commitment to the organisation and delivery of training
