Job summary

The Nursing Associate within the Gender Affirmation Service (GAS) plays a key role in delivering high-quality, compassionate, and patient-centred care across both the masculinising and feminising pathways. Working under the direction of Registered Nurses and within the NMC scope of practice, the post-holder supports clinical assessments, carries out delegated procedures, contributes to care planning, and ensures safe, effective coordination of patient care. The role requires strong communication skills, flexibility, and a commitment to upholding Trust values while enhancing the overall patient experience and supporting ongoing service development.

Main duties of the job

The Nursing Associate supports the Gender Affirmation Service by delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred care under the direction of Registered Nurses. Main duties include undertaking delegated clinical procedures, monitoring patients' health, contributing to care planning and assessments, and escalating concerns appropriately. The post-holder also provides pre- and post-operative information, maintains accurate patient records, assists with service coordination and managing clinic communications, as well as working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure an effective, compassionate and inclusive service.
