Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Quality Improvement Midwife (Guidelines and Audit)

The closing date is 05 February 2026

Job summary

We have the opportunity for a midwife to join our risk and safety team.

The purpose of the post is to support the maternity team to understand compliance with local and national standards through clinical audit and be responsible for managing a rolling programme of guideline development across the maternity service. This will ensure that every woman receives high quality, evidence based care throughout their maternity journey.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work collaboratively across both sites. The role will include identification of key responsible clinicians to take ownership of updating or constructing new clinical polices that are evidence based and represent best practice. This will include appropriate and timely notification to authors of guidelines ahead of expiry dates to enable updating or to secure an agreed extension to an existing policy. The post holder will take an active part in updating present guidelines, writing and ratifying new guidelines and for presenting key changes to the Maternity multidisciplinary team. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that all guidelines are in line with current research and development within maternity services nationally, and amended appropriately in response to changing policy and procedure. They will be responsible for ensuring changes in practice are implemented within both of the maternity units and will work cross-site to ensure that this is carried out in a timely manner, safely and effectively and in close liaison with the senior Midwifery and Obstetric teams.
