About you:

  • Qualification in Adult Nursing Degree/Diploma
  • NMC Registered Nurse or Midwife
  • Passionate about women's health and fertility
  • Post-registration experience past the preceptorship period
  • Experience in Women's Health and Gynaecology setting preferred
  • Trained in providing conscious sedation or willing to undergo training

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Fertility Nurse/Midwife to join our dynamic team of reproductive healthcare professionals. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by guiding individuals and couples through their fertility journey with expertise and empathy.

As a Fertility Nurse/Midwife, you will play a fundamental role in patient care, providing education, emotional support, and clinical assistance throughout the fertility treatment process. You will work closely with physicians, embryologists, and administrative staff to ensure a seamless, patient-centred experience.

Job responsibilities

In this role, you will utilise your clinical expertise to assist in diagnostic procedures, treatment planning, and patient care, working closely with physicians and embryologists. Your responsibilities will include patient assessments, administering medications, coordinating treatment schedules, and offering empathetic counselling during a sensitive and emotional time for our patients.

The post holder will be responsible for providing an exceptional level of care for couples and individuals undergoing fertility treatments, including carrying out nurse consultations, telephone calls, consultation and reviews of scans. They will have excellent customer care skills and will ensure efficient communication and relationship building with patient, families and staff across the organisation.

The post holder will assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised patient care through appropriate frameworks, including safe effective arrangements for discharge, underpinned by Trust values. They will complete the comprehensive training for sedation to perform the role of Nurse Sedationist once trained. They will be responsible for admitting, recovery and discharge patients for procedures within a fertility setting. The post holder should co-ordinate and support other members of the caring team who may be responsible for implementing specific aspects of nursing care.
