Job summary

We have an opportunity for a midwife to join our well established leadership team on a 12 month fixed term secondment.

The successful candidate will lead and be responsible for the delivery of high quality care and the patient experience in the maternity inpatient area through proactive clinical and professional leadership to nursing and midwifery staff at all levels within their area of responsibility. The post holder will need to ensure the delivery of high quality, evidence based, compassionate nursing and midwifery care, and that the workforce is managed effectively and efficiently.

The post holder will ensure that ward managershave adequate support to enable them to focus on their core responsibilities.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will contribute to the on-going implementation of the Trusts nursing, midwifery and corporate objectives, developing the service and nursing/midwifery roles to meet the evolving needs of patients and families.

The individual will undertake the key functions of the Matron role, ensuring the patient experience in maternity inpatients is of the highest possible standard at all times, with particular emphasis on the provision of dignified and compassionate care, which is delivered in a safe and clean environment.

The post holder will work with the Divisional Nurse / Head of Midwifery and the Senior Management Team in developing and implementing a divisional strategy to achieve the Trusts objectives and ensure that effective governance arrangements are implanted and maintained
