We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time 1 year fixed term band 6 paediatric neurology clinical nurse specialist post. This is a great opportunity for a Paediatric registered nurse to join our developing neurology services.
Through attendance to the Paediatric Epilepsy Network courses the successful candidate will be supported to develop their skills caring for children, young people with neurological conditions
The post holder will work in partnership with the Neurology Clinical Nurse Specialists across West London Children's Healthcare to continue developing our Neurology services. You will work in collaboration with the team across West London Children's Healthcare to standardise and ensure equability of care across our Neurology services.
Main duties of the job
Under the supervision of the paediatricians and neurologists you will hold a caseload of patients undertaking nurse led clinics. You will focus on promoting the health needs of individuals with neurological diagnoses, in addition to supporting our inpatient services in the delivery of acute patient care.You will work with children, young people and their families to ensure they are supported in understanding their diagnosis and associated lifestyle adaptions.You will provide education around the importance of medication compliance including monitoring of side effects.You will work to assess and promote the mental health of individuals across the patient cohort.You will work to ensure Children, Young People and their families are aware of the risks of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP).Ensure patients are supported through transition to adult services through the utilisation of the 'Ready Steady Go' transition programme.Participate and work in line with the findings of the Epilepsy 12 audit to support children, young people and their families to manage their neurological conditions.
