Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our established team.

The post holder will work with the Lead Midwife for Tobacco Dependence and other team members in providing individualised stop smoking support to women, pregnant people, and families in a flexible and innovative way. This post will contribute to tackling inequalities in health through promoting and supporting people to stop smoking. It focuses on engaging with people in communities and offering them practical support to change their behaviour to achieve their own choices and goals.

Main duties of the job

Act as the Smoke Free Pregnancy champion for maternity and provide intermediate stop smoking support throughout pregnancy, using the support of interventions such as CO monitoring and Nicotine Replacement therapy.

Essential

  • GCSE level English and Mathematics or equivalent
  • NVQ Level 3/4 or equivalent health related studies Or substantial successful experience delivering stop smoking interventions/support

Desirable

  • Smoking cessation Advisor intermediate level qualification

  • Experience of providing healthcare advice or promoting healthy lifestyle advice to patients or members of the public
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience of providing help, support and/or counselling on either a one to one basis or as part of a group setting.
