Job summary

We are looking to recruit a health care assistant to join the team and service. This role is a rare opportunity to develop skills in both sexual health and HIV with a focus on care of the LGBT community.

The main aspects of the role include clinical duties including direct patient care under supervision, assisting the Multi professional team in the delivery of a high standard of care to patients attending for Sexual, Reproductive health and HIV care. Other aspects include housekeeping and administration duties and overseeing the maintenance of a safe environment for both patients and staff.We are looking for individuals who are motivated, enthusiastic and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with the ability to work with a team in an innovative sexual health setting.In return, you will join a team of friendly skilled experienced doctors, sexual health / HIV nurses, health advisers and admin staff responsible for delivering a high standard of care to patients. We have a full in-house and Multidisciplinary Education programme.

The post holders will be expected to work flexibly within the clinic and at outreach settings in the local community. We are particularly interested to talk to candidates who have a passion for the healthcare needs of the LGBT community.

Main duties of the job

  • To participate, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse/ Midwife, in the delivery of patient care to a defined client group, in accordance with the philosophy of care which enables clients to maintain their skills and maximize the potential to achieve independence.
  • Work as part of an effective and caring team. The post holder works under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse/ Midwife.
  • They will work within the boundaries of their existing and developing skills at all times.
  • The post holder is expected to maintain high standards of care, managing their time, tasks and resources effectively.

  • Under direct supervision assists with the delivery of care as described by the Registered Nurse.
  • Assist patients with general hygiene needs reporting any changes in patients condition. 1.3.
  • Assist the patient to dress appropriately.
  • Safeguard patients own belongings and space.
