An exiting opportunity to join our dynamic team as a Band 7 neonatal Sister/Charge Nurse, in our newly redesignated Level 2 Neonatal Unit. The Neonatal Sister/Charge Nurse will provide support to all staff and will be required to work in partnership with all multi-disciplinary teams. You will be responsible for providing leadership and professional development for the nursing and support workers within the services
You will work with the Neonatal Matron to develop best practice and ensure that there is consistency across the directorate. In collaboration with the relevant senior nursing team and Matrons, they will be required to provide senior nursing cover for Neonatal unit.
The role may require cross site cover at the Chelsea and Westminster NICU site.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Leadership: Provide expert clinical leadership and supervision to the nursing team in the neonatal unit, ensuring high standards of care are delivered at all times.
2. Patient Care: Oversee the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualised care for neonates, ensuring safe and effective treatment.
3. Team Development: Mentor and support nursing staff through ongoing education, training, and performance evaluations, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
4. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, allied health professionals, and families, to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
5. Quality Assurance: Participate in the development and implementation of clinical protocols and policies, ensuring compliance with local and national standards.
6. Family Support: Provide emotional support and education to families, helping them understand their infant's condition and care plan.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Respond effectively to emergency situations, demonstrating advanced knowledge and skills in neonatal resuscitation and critical care.

To ensure all incidents are reported and documented as per the Trusts Risk Management Policy. To participate in all aspects of Clinical Governance including investigations completing risk reports to support quality improvement.

To identify and investigate any issues of conduct, discipline and performance within the team in accordance with trust policy and to liaise with the designated Matron and HR team
To develop ward/unit policies and guidelines and to ensure these are implemented and audited to ensure compliance and best practice.
In conjunction with the matron, nurse in charge and Medical team ensure the optimal cot usage, facilitating timely admission and discharge of babie
Be flexible in the work schedule in order to provide cross cover where and when needed. Assist the matron and other senior nursing staff in adjusting staffing levels to meet the demand and delivery of a cost effective service
To be familiar with the trust and division objectives and to ensure key performance indicators are met in particular in relation to saving lives and staff individual performance reviews
