Job summary
Gazzard Day Unit is a day unit caring for patients living with HIV and also patients receiving outpatient chemotherapy (Haematology, Oncology, HIV and Colorectal). The post holder will be responsible for providing leadership and professional development for the nursing and support workers within the clinical area. They will provide professional advice and support to the whole multidisciplinary team in caring for patients. The post holder will also provide nursing leadership for implementation and evaluation of all education, training and development of staff. They will develop, implement and evaluate policies, guidelines and protocols for the management of patients attending the clinical area in conjunction with the specialist MDT teams. They will be responsible for the interpretation of and maintaining compliance with Trust policies.
The post holder will aim to ensure that all patients are provided with a safe and high quality standard of care. They will be aware of the Care Quality Commission and work with the multi-disciplinary team ensuring that they are maintained. The post holder will also be involved in developing and delivering high quality patient centered care and working with the divisional team to ensure this is incorporated within the business objectives.
The post holder will work closely with the Centre for Professional Learning and Clinical Skills Teams to provide teaching/learning support in agreed areas of clinical expertise.
Main duties of the job
Responsibilities include all managerial duties (Recruitment, PDR's, Complaints, Datix, Budget responsibilities, project work) and also have a clinical and hands on aspect to the role, being in charge of the unit, managing the HIV daycare and also administering chemotherapy).
