Main duties of the job
Autonomously carry out the duties as part of the critical care outreach service, providing early intervention with appropriate assessment, observation & treatment to acutely-ill adult patients in all clinical areas
Provide extensive clinical advice and support to ward-based staff in caring for and managing critically-unwell patients in the ward areas
Be part of the multi-disciplinary Hospital at Night (HAN) team with a remit to reduce number of incidences and cardiac arrests, support the deteriorating patient pathway and improve patient outcomes
Work closely with the intensive care team to facilitate timely admission to ICU/HDU and safe discharge from ICU/HDU
Develop cross-divisional collaborative relationships with clinical site managers, ward managers and matrons in improving the recognition and escalation of acutely-ill / deteriorating patients, with the emphasis on the Use of NEWS2 for the Early Detection + Management and Escalation of Deteriorating Adult Patients; and Identification and Treatment of Sepsis for all Adults aged 16 and over.
Collaborate with the learning and development departments to deliver courses including but not limited to the ALERT, BEACH, tracheostomy and non-invasive ventilation training
Work towards the completion of the ACCOP Competency Framework endorsed by the National Outreach Forum
Please note: This role is to provide a 24/7 service, requiring day and night shifts; including weekends and bank holidays.
