Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for dynamic team player to join the Hepatology team at Chelsea and Westminster NHS foundation trust. Liver cancer is more common in people who have serious liver damage, but finding it early means it can often be cured. Doctors use regular checks called surveillance to help find cancer early.
This new post will directly support the tracking of patients with Liver damage and Hepatitis, and invite them to routine cancer surveillance appointments. Working closely with clinicians, the post holder will play a crucial role in supporting and optimising the care pathway for patients. This role is pivotal in delivering the national strategy better and earlier case finding. The post holder will be expected to work across 2 acute hospitals (Chelsea & Westminster and West Middlesex) along with working closely with other acute provider organisations and third party organisations such as GP practices, drug and alcohol services, hostels, homeless centres and charities.
Main duties of the job
The post will be based within the Emergency and Integrated Care division, reporting to the Junior Service Manager for Medicine, however will closely work with consultants and clinical nurse specialists in ensuring the best care for patients.
Roles and responsibilities
- Manage the pathway for patients on liver surveillance who are at risk of developing hepatocellular cancer (HCC)
- Support adoption and maintain a redcap call /recall database to ensure a robust system for tracking patients and increase the number of patients being offered surveillance as well as the uptake
- To work with the Clinical team and Junior Service Manager to provide high quality, effective admin support to the clinical team.
- To book new/follow-up appointments for the HCC surveillance service
- Participate and identify ways of development for the liver pathway
