We are looking for someone who is motivated, enthusiastic and possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team within the fast pace environment of the Emergency Department.

We are looking for nurses who are enthusiastic and motivated, and can demonstrate a kind and compassionate attitude, with a desire to provide effective and efficient urgent and Emergency Care practice. With strong nursing leadership, dedicated ED Matrons, and Professional Development nurses to guide and support you in conjunction with an allocated mentor. We provide high quality emergency care and give structured support and development to all our nurses including a tailored induction at the start. This post is for adult Registered Nurses.

You will be given a structured orientation to meet your individual needs to develop as an ED nurse.

Main duties of the job

  • Working autonomously whilst working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, assessing and managing a caseload of patients within the Emergency department.
  • Maintain effective communication with patients, carers and professionals to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • To ensure that nursing documentation is maintained to a high standard. Be a competent user of and participate in the ongoing development of the Electronic Patient Record.
  • To initiate care and treatment for all patients on an individual basis assessing care needs, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care using researched-based practice and agreed nursing models.
  • To work in close liaison with other members of the multi-disciplinary team communicating relevant information to families, ensuring the right to confidentiality of the patient and making sure that the information is realistic and up to date.
  • To participate in quality and audit initiatives within the department.
  • To use clinical expertise to manage clinical priorities appropriately.
  • Maintain a safe and acceptable environment for patients, visitors, students and staff.
  • To ensure that all patients who use the emergency department service do so in a timely manner ensuring equality, privacy and dignity needs are met.
  • To challenge practice so that the best and most appropriate treatment is given to the patient.

  • Ability to anticipate the changing workload and prioritise time effectively
