Job summary

Reporting to the Head of Emergency Preparedness Resilience and Response (EPRR) and Business Continuity and Lead for Mortuaries, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the EPRR work programme for the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Foundation Trust.

Ensuring the Trust fulfils their requirements under the Civil Contingencies Act (2004) as a Category One responder, which are organisations recognised as being the core of emergency response and are subject to the full set of civil protection duties. These include risk assessment of emergencies, to have in place emergency plans and business continuity management arrangements and a requirement to share information and cooperate with other agencies.

The role supports the coordination and guidance needed to ensure the Trust fulfil its legal and regulatory responsibilities to effectively respond to incidents like extreme weather, infectious disease outbreaks, or major transport accidents while ensuring that services continue to operate

The delivery of a bespoke EPRR training and exercising programme is a requirement of this role, to test capabilities under the Civil Contingencies Act, the NHS England EPRR Core Standards and Minimum Occupational Standards.

Alongside the Head of EPRR provide expert emergency and contingency planning advice and support to a variety of stakeholders internally and externally. Driving the EPRR portfolio whilst always fulfilling our PROUD values.

Main duties of the job

Review new national polices, guidance and regulations to determine how they apply to the Trusts response within the field of emergency planning

Understanding of the principles and practice of risk management, investigation and mitigation in the context of governance in the NHS

Provide support and specialist guidance to Trust response teams in the event of a major incident or business continuity incident at an operational and tactical level

To lead projects and working groups related to emergency preparedness within the Trust

To ensure the Incident Control Centre and associated equipment across the Trust is maintained ready for use in the event of an incident

Review and maintain emergency and business continuity plans for all services across the Trust

Support the updates for all Incident Response Plans required by the Trust including policy development, implementation and review
