Job summary

Leads, co-ordinates and manages the development and provision of the Pharmacy Residency Service.

Manages the provision of clinical training and supervision to Resident and Trainee Pharmacists on rotation in the dispensary.

Supports the provision of Pharmacy dispensary services to ensure a high quality of clinical service provision, a favourable experience for patients and service users and efficient processing of prescriptions and in-patient medicine requests for patients

Contributes to the provision of the clinical pharmacy service to patients within the Medicine Directorate ensuring the safe, effective, legal and accurate use of medicines within the speciality.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Discharge support and clinical practice

- Support the Trust and the Pharmacy Department to ensure efficient

discharge processes for patients.

- Work closely with consultants and the multidisciplinary teams to plan for

the provision of medicines including transcribing medicines prior to

discharge

- Be responsible and accountable for the clinical pharmacy service provided

to a designated group of patient.

Residency Service Manager

- Be responsible for the co-ordination and provision of the Residency

Service including:

o Preparing the Resident Team rotas

o Delivering training

o Chairing Residency Team meetings

o Maintaining on-call files

o Maintaining the resident pharmacist call database/log

- Monitor and develop the residency service:

o Provision of timely and accurate on-call information

o Monitor evening and weekend workload

- Support the delivery of comprehensive specialist pharmaceutical services from the Chelsea & Westminster Pharmacy Department both within and outside normal working hours

Dispensary Support Pharmacist

- Support the Operational Dispensary Manager in ensuring the provision of

an efficient, safe and legal dispensing service

- Promote professional standards in the dispensary by acting as a role

model to other pharmacists and technicians

- Support the professional role and development of the resident and pre-

registration trainee pharmacists on rotation in the dispensary.

Education and Training

- Lead and co-ordinate the provision of training and supervision of resident

and pre-registration trainee pharmacists on rotation in the dispensary in

accordance with local and professional requirements.

- Evaluate the performance of Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacist against

identified criteria using appropriate performance tools as part of the

review process. Provide comprehensive feedback to mentors on

individuals performance.

- Evaluate the performance of Resident Pharmacists against identified

criteria using appropriate performance tools as part of the review process.

services in line with local and national objectives.

- Act as a role model for resident and pre-registration trainee pharmacists.

- Promote best practice e.g. evidence-based practice through prescription
