Are you ready to step into an exciting, challenging and rewarding role in Oncology and Haematology? This is an ideal opportunity to gain experience as the designated Haematology/ oncology pharmacist for Chelsea site, with responsibility for provision of pharmacy services to the Cancer Services and Palliative Care teams and as key member of the multidisciplinary cancer team (MDT).

You will manage the specialist Pharmacy Technical Services Unit, which is currently undergoing an extensive refurbishment and will provide a new fit for purpose unit when completed. The unit provides a variety of services including the compounding of cytotoxic chemotherapy, supported by our excellent team of pharmacists, technicians and assistants.

In addition to your aseptic background and clinical expertise, you will be well organised and methodical with experience in a range of clinical areas. You will have developed excellent management skills and will work well within a team. You will enjoy teaching, as a commitment to training is an essential part of the role. Main duties of the job

The Lead Clinical Pharmacist - Oncology, Haematology, Palliative Care and Technical Services has responsibility for the pharmacy input into the oncology, haematology and palliative care team and other users of the products from the technical services section, including the supply of clinical trial materials and chemotherapy. The unit produces over 3500 products in the technical services unit per annum.

Clinical activities are focussed around providing pharmaceutical care to oncology, haematology and palliative care inpatients and day cases as part of the specialist clinical team, optimising their medicines' use through safe prescribing and effective monitoring.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Vocational Masters degree in pharmacy plus one year pre-registration training
  • Post graduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy Practice
  • GPhC Qualification
  • Clinical Practice in Oncology or Haematology
  • At least 2 years working in an aseeptic production unit

Desirable

  • Pharmacist Independent Prescriber
  • RPS Membership

Experience

Essential

  • Experience as an advanced clinical pharmacist practitioner, able to demonstrate a high level of competency (e.g. equivalent to achieving 'excellence' in the majority of competencies in all clusters within the Advanced Level Competency Framework, except R&D, which should be at Foundation level).
  • Multidisciplinary health services research Experience in management of others
  • Delivering training and education at post graduate level

Desirable

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience as a clinical pharmacist practitioner
  • Variety of clinical practice including medicine and surgery as a specialist
  • Dispensing and monitoring clinical trials
