An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Clinical Support Services Directorate, to join us as Service Manager for Endoscopy, Pathology and Microbiology.
We are looking for someone with experience in operational leadership, service development and delivery, as well as experience in contract management within the NHS. Experience working within pathology or microbiology services is a bonus, but not essential. This role is to support and deputise for the General and Deputy General Manager and we are looking for someone who can be flexible and rise to challenges.
The successful candidate will support and drive high quality services and standards as well as day to day performance management including operational, resource and financial control. You must be a strong and engaging communicator, and demonstrate excellent problem solving and prioritisation skills to be able to cope with conflicting pressures.
You will have direct line management responsibilities for the Junior Service Manager and work in close partnership with the Deputy General Manager, Ops Leads and Clinical teams across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
Accountable to the General Manager, and working in partnership with Clinical Directors and Divisional Nurses, the Service Manager will work alongside the Deputy General Manager in the operational delivery of Endoscopy, Pathology and Microbiology Services, focussing on delivery of the DM01 and CWT standards financial performance and governance.
The Service Manager will work alongside the Deputy General Manager in the delivery of the Directorate's quality, performance & productivity and workforce targets.
The Service Manager will be accountable for establishing and maintaining effective structures and systems of control for the management of staff, including recruitment, appraisal, CPD and support of the Trust's HR policies and procedures.
The Service Manager will be expected to establish collaborative relationships with colleagues within the Trust and with external agencies to ensure delivery of the Directorate's business plan and strategic vision.
The Service Manager will make sure that line management of his or her staff is undertaken professionally and that each member of staff has a development and training plan consistent with Divisional and Trust objectives.
The Service Manager will be expected to work between the two main hospital sites, delivering a consistent level of cover and leadership between the sites.
