Job summary
The C&W hospital has a strong Endoscopy service. The team is led by Endoscopy Lead Nurse and Consultant Clinical Lead who work alongside the clinical and management teams. Our Endoscopy is JAG accredited with up to date modern equipment and friendly staff. There is strong multi-disciplinary working and close links with other providers. We provide a range of gastrointestinal procedures in 4 well equipped endoscopy rooms. We run 7 day service including out of hours support to the Gastroenterology team for gastrointestinal bleeds.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a clearly identifiable senior clinical staff member. They will have significant clinical experience, provide sound clinical expertise to their team, coordinate and deliver high quality care. They will be a role model for expert clinical care, and lead on specific projects / management functions as delegated by the Sister / Charge Nurse. They will be role model the identified Trust values at all times.
They will take responsibility for making accurate patient observations, completing medical history, giving medication advice to all patients undergoing endoscopic procedures and act appropriately to abnormal pathology results.
Expected to support the team in delivering safe, high quality and dignified care. They will play a key role within the multidisciplinary team in order to ensure a seamless, co-ordinated and timely approach to Endoscopy service.
The post holder will ensure that all activities are carried out within Chelsea and Westminster Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust policies and guidelines and promote the objectives of the Trust's Nursing Vision and Strategy.

Lead on assessing planning and implementing high quality care, and evaluating care options for patients in the clinical area, in line with the Trust values and objectives
To perform pre-assessment and/ or related tests for patients who are going to have Endoscopy procedures.
Lead on complex clinical care for patients within their area
Able to learn and assist in interventional procedures like ERCP, EUS, stent insertions, dilatations, EBUS etc.
Ensure the safe custody, maintenance and administration of medication, in accordance with established Trust policy
Promote and maintain a safe therapeutic environment for patients, their families and staff, according to national and local Infection Control guidelines, Health & Safety legislation and Trust policies and objectives
Coordinate discharges and transfers, promoting timely and safe processes for them
Ensure that patient flow and the management of beds is effective and safe
Ensure the delivery of high quality end of life care in line with national pathways, e.g. Liverpool Care Pathway, through the provision of holistic palliative and terminal care
Provide sound evidence based clinical advice as required to staff and patients
Maintain a good understanding and implementation of clinical escalation procedures as required
