Job summary
To contribute to the service provision in Goods Receipt and Distribution to ensure an efficient and safe service is maintained on a rotational basis whilst undertaking training for a Health Pharmacy Services Level 2 nationally recognised qualification. To support the introduction of and maintenance of defined stock management processes and standards. To work with goods receipt and the distribution team to ensure defined key performance indicators are achieved.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties
- Support the safe and efficient receipt, booking-in, storage, and distribution of medicines across the pharmacy department.
- Participate in ward top-ups, robot loading, and processing of ward orders--including picking, checking, and packing medicines for delivery.
- Maintain accurate stock management, including dealing with discrepancies, processing deliveries promptly, and supporting key performance indicators.
- Ensure correct storage of all medicines, including clinical trial drugs, unlicensed medicines, medical gases, and IV fluids.
- Carry out manual handling tasks, including lifting and moving heavy boxes and equipment, in line with health and safety guidance.
- Support the cleanliness, orderliness, and upkeep of pharmacy storage areas and goods-receipt zones.
- Engage in required training, self-directed learning, and completion of Pharmacy Services Level 2 units in line with GPhC requirements.
- Adhere to departmental procedures, legal and professional standards, and maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Assist with training new staff and contribute to departmental meetings, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Undertake any other duties reasonably requested by senior pharmacy staff or the Chief Pharmacist.
