The Assistant Practitioner (Clinical Imaging) role is for those not simply interested in the routine, day-to-day assistant practitioner positions which may be offered elsewhere. Job Summary
Post-holders will carry out plain film (x-ray) examinations, as required by the department, under the supervision of a Radiographer within a defined scope of practice. The Assistant Practitioner (Clinical Imaging) should be keen to be part of an imaging service with a difference. Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust's (CWHFT) imaging directorate is going through a period of transformational change where innovation is at the forefront of what we do.
We are seeking an Assistant Practitioner (Clinical Imaging) who wishes to work at West Middlesex University Hospital so that they are surrounded by people who put patients first but are also keen to invest in themselves and the organisation.

Perform non-complex, protocol-driven plain film (X-ray) examinations for co-operative patients, as required by the department, under the supervision of a Radiographer within a defined scope of practice efficiently and to a high standard.
To manipulate and manoeuvre radiographic equipment and patients, in order to obtain high quality diagnostic images within the departments protocols and procedures.
To ensure that patients receive a high standard of care.
To be conversant with the routine procedures in all x-ray rooms for co-operative patients.
To communicate with other staff members to ensure the smooth running of the Department.
To ensure that the Radiation Protection guidelines, IR (ME) R guidelines and local rules are strictly adhered to.
To ensure that the rules and procedures of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 are strictly adhered to, and that all working areas are kept clean and safe.
To participate in the departmental quality assurance programs as required.
To report and record all equipment faults.
To undertake any other duties which may be appropriate to the post.
To comply with, and be able to demonstrate and instruct, safe manual handling techniques.
To comply with and be able to demonstrate safe infection control measures.
To maintain a commitment to, and take responsibility for, personal development utilising principles of Continuous Professional Development (CPD). The post holder is encouraged by the department to attend both personal and professional development activities that assist in their role and the service.
The post holder will be required to actively participate in a periodic performance appraisal, in accordance with the Trust guidelines.
