Job summary
We are looking for clinical leaders passionate about doing things differently to join our North West London mission team focused on optimising care around Cardiovascular Disease.
You will work closely with our team at ICHP, the Integrated Care Board (ICB), and partners across North West London (NWL) to help shape and deliver innovation in this space, and we will be there to support you all the way along this exciting journey.
In NW London we have a thriving research and innovation (R&I) ecosystem, and we are committed to harnessing the power of R&I to improve the health of our citizens. As part of our ambition to become the most innovation and research friendly ICS in the country, NW London's Research and Innovation board has established a smaller number of priorities, aligned with the NW London strategy, for us to collectively focus our R&I efforts on.
NW London Missions which will work to:
- Stimulate and channel research
- Align external research funds to the Missions
- Accelerate effective adoption of impactful interventions
- Evaluate and improve activity
NW London ICB has identified three Missions to focus our R&I efforts on. These are:
- Optimising Care of Long-Term Conditions (starting with CVD)
- Enabling more days at home
- Supporting Children & Young People's Mental Health
We are currently recruiting two clinical fellows for the Optimising Care of Long-Term Conditions (starting with CVD) Mission - one to work on prevention of CVD, and one to work on detection and treatment optimisation.
Main duties of the job
Who we're looking for:
- A talented, creative and positive clinician interested in innovation to support a more effective, efficient healthcare system
- Someone interested in health inequalities and using data to support population health management
- Someone motivated to work collaboratively with people of different backgrounds and sectors
As a clinical innovation fellow, you will be:
- developing and implementing new clinical innovations
- identifying pilots, developing expertise and scaling innovation
- providing clinical expertise, co-designing interventions and innovations, and helping to train other clinicians on how to use new innovations
- working with a NWL mission team to contribute to setting the vision for innovation and the strategic direction of the innovation work
- working with innovators from multiple sectors including the NHS, supporting to understand the needs of the health and social care system, encouraging co-design and informing the development of their innovation.
About you:
- You want to work for 1 day per week in an innovation role
- You currently spend some of your time in a patient/client facing role
- You are hands-on and you want to get stuck in
- You want to try and do things differently to make a difference to frustrations you have in healthcare delivery
What experience we're looking for:
- Clinical/social care experience
- Experience delivering change or improvement in health and/or social care
- You will work or live in North West London
About us
Your key skills:
- Effective communication skills - to clinicians and integrated care system (ICS) stakeholders
- Presenting in workshops and training sessions to large groups of staff and or providing one-to-one mentorship
- Confidence in using quality improvement methodology, coaching, facilitation, and educational techniques to support best practice implementation, learning and improvements in patient care
Bonus points if you:
- Have experience in using data/dashboards to support quality improvement or change
- Have experience of engaging communities to inform and improve health and social care provision
- Have experience of applying Population Health Management approaches, and are familiar with the principles of Clinical Effectiveness.
