Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to assist on managing the Trusts capital program and its five years capitalstrategy, as well as be motivated to learn all aspects of fixed assets accounting ensuring any changes in regulations, guidance and accountingstandards for fixed assets are communicated to all relevant parties and implemented effectively. The individual will assist in presenting the Trustscapital position to the Capital Program Board as well as monthly reporting to NHSi and to ensure that year end statutory requirements are mettaking into account current DHSC, NHSi and IFRS guidance. The individual will assist the delivery of achieving the Trust's strategic aims forcapital as well as ensuring that the Trusts capital control target is met at the financial year end.

The successful candidate will be a technical minded, good Excel skills, able to work under pressure and report to tight deadlines,as well as able to demonstrate the ability to understand complex processes and resolve issues accurately, effectively and efficiently. You will be agood communicator, display a positive and proactive attitude, strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and multi-task.

Main duties of the job

To provide financial and capital accounting services to the Trust, with the aim of:

  • Recording financial and capital transactions accurately and ensuring the integrity of the fixed asset register and general ledger is maintained
  • Ensuring appropriate capital controls are maintained and adhered to
  • Supporting the production of the capital asset financial information for the monthly NHS Improvement returns, annual statutory accounts, Capital Programme Board (CPB) finance report and other financial reports ensuring that work is completed on a timely basis so that internal and external reporting deadlines are met
  • Supporting the Capital Manager in ensuring the integrity of the fixed asset register through a rolling programme of asset verification
  • Providing capital financial input, advice and support to the Trust
  • Conducting standard analysis of the fixed asset register
  • Ensuring VAT is correctly accounted for on capital schemes
  • Accountable to the Head of Financial Operations for adherence to statutory accounting requirements, International Financial Reporting Standards, Department of Health and NHS Improvement accounting standards and Trust policies for internal control, corporate governance and reporting requirements.
