Job summary

Associate Director of People (Band 8c)

The Associate Director of People role is integral to the senior People and OD Directorate's leadership team and will support the Deputy Chief People Officer with key elements of the delivery of our People Strategy aligned to the NHS Long Term Plan.

You will help shape the People and OD operating model to its best in order to achieve the Trust's people ambitions, while ensuring robust People and OD related governance mechanisms for board assurance are implemented and sustained. You will galvanise a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and integration, taking the lead on key projects internally and externally and advancing the Trust's collaboration within the NWL sector towards collaborative people priorities. The post holder will deputise for the Deputy Chief People Officers and Chief People Officer as required.

Main duties of the job

As a key member of the senior People and OD Leadership team, the post holder will contribute to the development and implementation of the Trust's People and OD Strategy and provide strong compassionate leadership to the People and OD teams. They will support the Deputy Chief People Officer in providing a comprehensive People and OD service, including the direct management of HR Business Partners and / Head of Wellbeing, Inclusion and Engagement and / Head of Workforce Information and the PA support to the CPO team. They will provide sound and effective management of the People and OD committees, ensuring the production of high quality papers, reports and effective forward planning. Taking the lead on HR related governance and compliance requirements, the Associate Director of People will ensure that relevant statutory, regulatory and professional standards are met in relation to workforce policies, processes and procedures.

In all their dealings, the Associate Director of People will enable and nurture a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in HR service delivery that ensures we get the basics right. Ultimately, they will be catalytic to ensuring that the Trust is supported by a highly capable and professional People and OD team that delivers solution and customer focussed, streamlined and value adding services.

Essential

  • Masters ( level 7) in Human Resource Management HRM or Human Resource Development HRD or equivalent qualification
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in key areas of responsibility
  • MCIPD or equivalent senior HR experience

Experience

Essential

  • A solid track record of working in the areas of responsibility across a broad range of HR functions across a large complex organisation
  • Experience in developing and embedding improvements in Equality, Diversify and Inclusion, Health and Wellbeing and Staff Engagement, Workforce Intelligence, OH across a large organisation aligned to business priorities and professional groups
  • A solid track record in the design and delivery of programmes that are aligned to the people priorities and business context, demonstrating ROE/ROI
  • A strong track record of effective performance management and delivery of performance targets.
  • Considerable experience leading expert teams, motivating and developing the team, including setting out clear priorities, objectives, mentoring and coaching to maximise potential
  • Experience of working in a rapidly changing environment with multiple senior stakeholders and building trust, securing their engagement, resulting in sustainable change
  • Experience of working across organisational boundaries, building partnerships internally and externally to deliver a quality service and exceed customers' expectations
