Job summary

The Information Department at Chelsea and Westminster is a cutting edge working environment, looking to utilise modern technologies and methods.

The post-holder will be expected to work closely with all members of the data science and data engineering teams, providing dynamic and creative support within the team, as well as, for the wider organisation. Tasks will be assigned by the team manager, as well as, the department head.

This is an exciting opportunity to become involved with an evolving team, utilising cloud technology and modern development tools.

Main duties of the job

The main purposes of this role are:

    • To provide activity and performance information to assist in the operational management of the Trust.
    • To support the provision of information required to meet Trust mandatory and executive reporting.
    • To work as an effective and integral part of the Information team to ensure reporting is consistent and accurate and is delivered within the agreed timescales.
    • To ensure that all information is customer focused, timely, accurate and is user friendly.
    • To support other members of the team in meeting the business needs of the organisation.
    • To provide information support to operational staff within the organisation.
    • To provide administrative support to the Information team as required

Job description

Job responsibilities

  1. Provide regular information on the status of :
  • Referral to Treatment and Stage of Treatment waiting list performance against target
  • Accident and Emergency performance against target
  • Cancer waiting time performance against target
  • Trends in referral demand on the Trust
  • Data quality associated with Referral to Treatment, patient demographics, clinical coding, commissioner challenges collation and information governance
  • Maternity key performance indicators Vital Signs Monitoring and other quality themes
  • Performance reports for specific support or community services
  • Efficiency measures Did not attends, New to Follow Up ratios, Length of Stay
  • Quality key performance indicators covering incident reporting, safety, clinical effectiveness, infection control and patient experience
  1. Engage in a rotation programme of work so that there is capacity to cover a broad range of regular reports.
  2. Proactively cover colleagues reports during period of unexpected absence.
  3. Ensure that all mandatory external reports are submitted to the external agency (UNIFY) by the published deadline date.
  4. Ensure that all internal dataset for the Trust Board Performance report is processed by the team deadline date.
  5. Assist in the development of a Business Intelligence reports for the dissemination of routine information to directorates.
  6. Respond to ad-hoc requests for information by diligently agreeing the inclusion criteria, data period and estimated completion date
  7. Respond to and resolve any queries that relate to the information provided.
  8. Ensure that any information reported is timely, accurate and related reports have consistent results.
  9. Ensure that any information reported has been properly checked and any complex queries are highlighted to a senior analyst colleague.
  10. Liaise with relevant staff within the Trust such as the Clinical Coding Teams and staff from the operational directorates to ensure that data quality targets are achieved.
  11. Develop exception reports and relevant commentary to highlight key messages underlying each report.
  12. Provide information analysis in support of the monitoring of NHS Operating Framework, Department of Health and Commissioner, quality standards and other Trust initiatives.
  13. Provide information analysis to support specific Trust projects.
  14. Assist in the formalisation of the channels of communication.
  15. Ensure that the data ties back to the EPR system and is relevant.
  16. Provide a detailed commentary explaining major variances and provide analysis to speciality, consultant level or otherwise as specified by senior colleagues.
  17. Provide data to support benchmarking exercises such as reference costs, mortality scores.
  18. Work with the Information Governance Manager to support all relevant aspects of the Information Governance Agenda.
  19. Highlight where information held in Directorate based systems and the Trusts EPR systems are the different to senior colleagues.
