Job summary

  • To work with the CNIO and other DCNIO's in partner organisations to optimise the electronic patient record in a way that supports the delivery of high quality and cost effective pathways and services.
  • Ensure clinical adoption and engagement in the use of technology, particularly amongst the nursing and midwifery workforce.
  • Assists in the management of business cases and finance in digital nursing across the North West London Integrated Care System.
  • Develop clinical information systems that support the delivery of nursing and how this is reflected in the electronic patient record.
  • Assists in continued monitoring of patient experience and harm free care by ward teams.
  • Provide professional and digital health leadership alongside the CNIO for nursing and midwifery staff at the Trust.

Main duties of the job

Responsibility:

  • Provide digital expertise to lead nurses in the clinical divisions across the Trust.
  • Lead on projects assigned by the CNIO to optimise the delivery of the electronic patient record
  • Propose enhancements to the electronic patient record based on investigations and incidents that have occurred at the Trust.
  • Represent digital nursing at Trust meetings.

Lead on the development of new evidence based assessments and documentation in the electronic patient record, ensuring Trust wide engagement with the process and wide user engagement.

In conjunction with the CNIO and other network DCNIOs ensure the Trusts achieve compliance with local and national directives with respect to digital health.

Measure the benefits of implementation of electronic clinical documentation and other nursing functionality, ensuring that this data is fed back to nurses at every level of the clinical divisions.

To establish and maintain open communication channels with all levels of each division to ensure good ideas for improvement at every level are fed into the wider electronic patient record optimisation process.

Ensure the Trusts risk management policy is utilised at every opportunity when engaging with staff in each division, to help assist the divisions quality assurance framework

Contribute to the delivery of the Equality Delivery system for the NHS by linking objectives to trust level outcomes, with close involvement of staff and relevant stakeholders.

Communication and Information Management

Maintain effective communications on nursing matters and patient care issues.

Attend relevant meetings within each division and ensure that divisional matters are appropriately communicated to the CNIO and other DCNIOs in partner organisations.

Actively support and promote corporate, clinical governance, diversity and equality across all workings and when engaging with clinical teams.

Promote the importance of technology in clinical care with all nursing and midwifery staff in the Trust.

General Responsibilities

Act as an ambassador for the Trust at all times

Ensure personal development and contribute to the work of the Trust through publications, presenting at Conferences and general internal and external networking.

Undertake continuing professional development to ensure that knowledge is continually updated in the field of clinical informatics.
